Peter asks:
I had my tooth #10 extracted, and my oral surgeon decided to place an implant right after the extraction. However, at the very end of the procedure, he said it failed, and had to remove it. My question now is are the chances to have a successful implant in the same place now diminished? Does it rely heavily on how the bone graft goes?... Thanks.
Hi Peter,
There is no reason another implant cannot successfully be placed in a previously failed site. Bone grafting can be redone or augmented to make it a better site in the future. Successful implant therapy in a deficient site (requiring bone grafting) does indeed depend on the quality of the bone which goes directly to the success of the bone graft.
