Hi Danielle,

If an implant is mobile, it will usually come out in a manner similar to a loose tooth. The area should be cleaned out well to remove any infection. Sometimes the area may be grafted and an implant replaced at a later date. Other times, the area may be left alone with the intention of returning to replace the implant later. And still other times, a new implant can be replaced immediately. The individual circumstances of why the dental implant became mobile and failed in the first place will determine what procedure(s) are used to remove it.
