Do Botox treatments negatively affect dental implants? I had bone replacement six months ago and have an appointment in two weeks for the implant. I also had a Botox treatment on my face two weeks ago and have a follow up treatment scheduled in two days.

Hi Nancy,

I do not perform Botox in my office and therefore I am not an authority on the procedure. Generally speaking, though I would be hard-pressed to imagine a situation where a Botox injection could affect osseointegration of a dental implant.

With the Botox being injected into soft tissue, and not the gingiva around an implant, and the implant osseointegrating in bone, there should be no relation.

Assuming we are talking about injections into the lip, I still could not see the manifestation of a problem as long as no infection from the injection occurred.
