Toby asks:
Do you think it's possible for me to get my own o-rings that I can install myself?? Due to prrsonal problems I am now unable to pay the $80.00 charge that my dentist charges. And I'd like to do this myself. What do you think?
Hi Toby,
Unfortunately no I don’t think this is a good idea. There are so many auxiliary issues that go into the choosing and placement of these attachments: sizes, styles, instruments for placement, materials to seat them, connection to the overdenture etc.
I would recommend finding a really good restorative dentist, possibly even a specialist (prosthodontist) and exploring options for a more predictable long-term solution, so that you won’t have to change attachments too frequently. I realize this means outlaying money in the short term, but it may save you a lot in the long run.
