Grind My Teeth: Can I Get a Dental Implant?

Question:

Pamela asks:
I grind my teeth and have a mouth guard. Can I still get a dental implant? I don't want to loose my implant. 4,000 dollars is alot of money for the implant. Will my teeth grinding prevent me from getting an implant?

Dear Pamela:

Grinding your teeth is a concern, but not a contraindication for a dental implant.

You can still have an implant placed.

After the implant is restored, you need to continue to wear a night guard to protect the implant from undesirable forces from grinding.

Good luck!

dental implant, best option?

I have had two root canals, go bad. the first, the surgeon said the first dentist missed a branch.

then that re, rootcanal, has split? what is the BEST option for me? i apparently grind my teeth at night and after 2 failed root canals, i need to know what is my best option...

i don't want to pay a few thousand dollars and have that fail as well.

i have a reaction to metal.. and i don't know if there is metal involved..
