David asks:
I am a sixty-six year old man about to undergo a rehabilitative implant dental treatment. I have been reading a lot about the All-on-4 or All-on-6 implant techniques and would like to know whether these techniques are useful and recommended solely for people who lack all or most of their natural teeth, or could also be considered in cases of a partial loss of such teeth? In my case, overall eight of my natural teeth are missing (six in the lower jaw bone and two in the upper one) while most of my other teeth are presently reasonably functional. Many thanks for any orientation.
Hi David,
As you mention, the All-on-4 is a technique recommended to those people who wish to replace all their natural teeth.
However, it's often the situation where patients have a few or many of their natural teeth remaining. Depending on the condition and long term prognosis of those remaining teeth, they can be removed and the All-on-4 technique can be accomplished even in these cases. In some cases, though, these remaining teeth can be maintained and/or the patient does not want these removed. If this is the case, traditional implant techniques, as opposed to the All-on-4, are employed to replace the few that are missing.
It's best to be seen by a qualified professional who can help you determine the best options for you.
Please feel free to call our offices at (888) 721-1903 to learn more about your options. We are a worldwide leader in the All-on-4 technique.
