Dental Implant Bridge: No Cement and Coming Away?

Question:

Keith asks:
My implanted bridge has come away from it's pins. There isn't a trace of cement on either the pins or the bridge sockets. What could be the reason for this? What should I be doing now? Do I need to repeat the implant procedure? Thanks

Hi Keith,

Many dental implant practicioners use temporary cement for retrievability. Return to your restorative dentist and he will decide what cement is appropriate or if there is occlusal interference rocking the bridge, requiring adjustment. On occasion the decision can be made to change abutments on the implant to screw retained, thus eliminating the need for cement. The good news is that a repeat dental implant procedure is not indicated.
