Dental Implant Rejection: Help?

Jennifer asks:

How would I know if my body is rejecting a dental implant, and how long do you wait to remove the implant if in fact there is dental implant rejection?

Hi Jennifer,

Dental implants can not be rejected by your body. However, it is possible for dental implants to cause an infection and you may be having an infection or inflammation from the dental implant. It is very important to discuss this possibility with your specialist, as soon as possible.

If the implant is in fact infected, then it should be removed immediately. Once the site heals, then another implant can be placed.
