Lili asks:
I have a dental implant on my tooth #8. The dentist did a temporary (temp) crown until the second stage of my dental treatment and the temp crown is now loose. I'm traveling right now and not near my dentist. Can I use anything from the drugstore to fix this problem or do I need to go to see dentist?

Temporary Crown is Loose on Implant: What Can I Do?
Dear Lili:
The best thing to do is to go to a dentist and allow him or her to fix the problem right.
If you cannot do this and want to try a fix-it-yourself solution, you can go to the drugstore and get a product called "Dent Temp" which is a powder and liquid similar to the temporary cement that dentists use.
This is assuming that your temporary is a bridge that attaches to adjacent teeth.
Make sure that you clean the inside well and that it goes fully to place, otherwise it will be "high" and it will not be comfortable.
Hope this helps and good luck!

Loose Temp Crown
Hi Lili
See a dentist familiar with implant temporization. If the temp crown is improperly cemented it can result in premature loading of the implant prior to complete osseointegration. Improper occlusion is a major component in implant failure which you can avoid.
