Syma asks:
My periodontist checked the areas, at I think, #3 and #14, where the teeth were extracted and dental implants were planned to be put in. He did at CT scan and discovered both areas need a sinus lift before he can do the implants. Are there different ways to do the sinus lift and what is the least evasive and less costly procedure? What are the major risks and is there any way to avoid it? Thanks

Different kinds of sinus lift
Hello
Sinus lift procedure is designed to augment height of bone in those regions allowing proper size implant. Depending on the amount of existing bone, there are two types available. Internal lift and conventional lateral window type of lift. The first is more conservative and less invasive. The second is a bit more invasive, but heals quite well.
Then there is the decision of whether to do the implant and sinus lift at same time or different times. This again depends on the amount of existing bone.
