Bill asks:
When getting dental implants for upper and lower fixed bridge permanent dentures, is subsequent bone loss greater using the all-on-4 technique compared to more traditional methods whereby 8 or more implants are used? Wouldn't there be more stimulation with more implants and hence less bone loss?
Do you feel like a dummy when it comes to dental implants? Don't worry. We can help. Below are popular posts for those just starting out with implants.
All on 4 vs. 8 Implants: Which Has Less bone loss?
Bill,
If you understand how the bone needs stimulation by a dental root or an implant in order to maintain its volume and not atrophy, then you know that eight implants will be better than four.
Also, from an engineering standpoint, eight implants can provide better support for the prosthesis and spreads the forces of mastication better, and in the event that one implant fails, it allows you to still have a functional prosthesis.
