Can I Wear My Denture Over the Implants Immediately?

Question:

Winona asks:
I have been wearing a full upper denture for 25 yrs now. I am considering implant for myself, however my job is always meeting clients. After the surgery can I still wear the Denture over the implants or do I have nothing at all for 4-6 months?
Thanks and appreciate it.

Dear Winona,

You most certainly can wear the denture after implant surgery. The dental implants are placed in the bone, way under the gum that your denture rests on.

Minor adjustments may be necessary to allow the denture to fit properly, after surgery. But, generally, you will able to wear it home after the surgery is finished.
