Crown Bigger than Rest of My Teeth: What Can I Do?
0
votes
I have a loose crown (abutment needs tightening) I have already addressed that issue with you but my next question is this crown doesn't seem to fit my mouth properly it is bigger than the rest of my teeth and it bulges out of the normal line of my teeth. The other implant crown looks great what could have happened that this one turned out so badly. How do I tell my dentist I want a different one? I think the lab messed up, shouldn't they make me another one?

To answer your first question:
Communicate with your dentist!
Tell him exactly what you are telling me.
The implant crown should be normal size and not bulge out unless the dentist addresses that issue with you before doing the procedure. If I tell my patient that the crown will be longer than normal because there is bone loss that I cannot correct and I do it before the procedure, it is informed consent. However if the crown looks long and I did not inform my patient that it would look this way beforehand then I did not prepare my patient with the information that he or she needed before the procedure.
Your second question asks if the laboratory messed up.
Even if the laboratory made a bad crown, it is the dentist's responsibility to send it back and request that it is made correctly. This happens rarely, but when it does I tell the patient that I will gladly remake the crown.
Ask your dentist why the crown looks the way it does and to please make it right, and if it is possible I am sure he or she will do it.
Good luck!
